Wallflower Weekly Finds, 46

I hope you guys had a fantastic Christmas!

Santa's Key

The last few days have been packed with activities leading up to Christmas. Work, possible jury duty, 10 year high school reunion (still can’t believe it!), last minute donations to the toy drive, a taste of the best chocolate cake ever (to me anyway).

And then when it hit Christmas, I did absolutely nothing. My family and I spent the day in our PJs eating and watching Christmas movies. The life. =)

What did you guys do? I would love to hear your stories!

For this week’s finds….

This Moist Gingerbread Spice Snack Cake looks so delish.

Oh, this Easy Slow Cooker Cinnamon Roll would be perfect for sharing with coworkers.

This Loaded Cheesy Bacon Corn and Potato Chowder sounds so amazing on a cold day.

Looking for something tasty for breakfast – try this Easy Eggs Sausage and Hash Browns Skillet.

Oh my god! Cheesecake and brownies? Together? For peanut butter lovers, try this Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake Brownies.

I need this Winter Vegetable Chicken Noodle Soup with Asiago Crostini in my life.

If you’re still looking for a gift for those family and friends that you haven’t seen yet to exchange gifts with, consider this Buttery Chocolate Covered Ritz Bark. There are only 4 ingredients.

I love to snack. So this Easy Crockpot Chex Mix would be amazing.

I have never had arancini before, but I’m all for trying this Fontina Roasted Garlic and Goat Cheese Arancini.

This Margarita Punch looks so festive. I would totally serve it for New Years.

This Sparkling Clementine Thyme Cocktail also looks perfect for the New Year festivities.

I can’t wait to give this Gingerbread Babka a try!

As always lots of wonderful things to follow up on.

Stayed in and relaxed with my wife and kids. I went for a decent run and we ate cochinita pibil and watched a movie, played games and did lots of coloring.

    Merry Christmas!

I am so jealous of your Christmas Movies in PJ’s, that sounds like the ideal way to spend any day to be honest. My partner and I both did our regular Christmas plan and ended up working Christmas night. No rest for the wicked as they say 😉

II also had a very relaxing day haha First of all we had some pancakes for breakfast (as I posted on my blog), then we spent the morning just cleaning a little bit and making it all a bit tidy. At lunch time, my brother came and we all had lunch together (it was delicious). Then we gave each other our presents and my aunt also came. We played boardgames all the afternoon and, in the evening, we watched Arthur Christmas.

I cooked dinner for a small group of seven (family and might as well be family) on Christmas day. Ahead of time I made loads of pierogi and froze them in dozens, then boiled them up and served them two ways – drizzled with burnt butter, the way my family did it when I was growing up – and sauteed with bacon and onions in my wife’s family tradition. On Christmas Eve day, I made up a roaster of cabbage rolls the way my mom used to make them. Roasted veggies on the bbq, since we were enjoying unseasonably warm weather in Toronto, and sister-in-law made a batch of patychky, which we call “meat-sticks”, a Polish delight I grew up with. Lovely dinner, great company, followed by a low-key relaxing day.

Sounds great! Two of our sons and their families visited and we ate at Mason’s in Nashville. The food was delicious and the adults had fun with a ‘white elephant’ gift exchange. Later we snacked with leftover sandwiches from food made the day before. We thought about and prayed for family.
